He was right. Interior Design is more than choosing paint colours and sofas. Thoughtfully considered schemes and conscious product choices will forever touch you as you sit back and enjoy the result.

The Long View

No room exists in a vacuum - despite what Changing Rooms may have suggested back in the 90s! We move through one room to the next and can usually see one from the other. Quite simply they need to work in harmony - it is essential to take into account the long view. This bungalow just outside Paris had an awkward floor plan - similar to a squashed Z, angles everywhere. But once embraced, these resulting glimpses through led to a truly dynamic space.

Craftsmanship is alive and well

When I choose and specify products for my clients, I am conscious of where they come from and who makes them. In a rare example of actually knowing the name of the craftsman, this is Keith. He has been spinning the shades for the Luna collection by J Adams & Co for 40 years - and now he is training his son to take over when he retires. Knowing the craftsman behind the product makes it even more tantalising and lifts it out of the ordinary.

Time for some glamour

Pulling together a decorative scheme can be the most joyful part of interior design. It can also be the point when clients really appreciate the value of having access to truly individual and carefully selected finishes, some only available to design professionals.

In this master bedroom, the design was inspired by the striking chinoiserie-style wall covering, with the 100% silk deep pile rug and bronze accents setting the tone for what will become a sumptuous haven.
